About the World Championships

What Is Worlds?

The Pokémon World Championships is a yearly tournament where Trainers from around the world gather to celebrate the games they love and battle to be the very best!

The 2023 Pokémon World Championships

The Pokémon World Championships return from August 11–13 in Yokohama, Japan, the first city to host the grand event in Asia. Watch as the city embraces all things Pokémon and numerous champions are crowned in Pokémon GO, the Pokémon TCG, Pokémon UNITE, and the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet video games.

The Pokémon World Championships are coming to Asia for the first time! The yearly event was primarily held in the United States and Canada until London played host to Worlds in 2022.

Trainers battle it out all year long for a chance to compete at the Pokémon World Championships. Watch as they push each other to the limit in fun-spirited competition featuring your favorite characters.

Trainers don't have to qualify for the Pokémon World Championships to enjoy the fanfare. There's no better place to meet fans from around the world and speak the language of “Pokémon.”
